1. ARCTIC DOME

SLEEP UNDER THE STARS!

At Tuva Turisthytte you can spend the night in an Arctic Dome, luxury glamping with high comfort on Hardangervidda. After a long day outside, it's nice to go inside, get the fireplace going and drink something warm, while you hear the wind rustles the tent canvas. Just relax and enjoy the moment. From a soft and cozy double bed you look straight up at the starry sky. If you're lucky, you can also see the northern lights!

2. LANGEDRAG NATURPARK

GET CLOSE TO THE ANIMALS!

Langedrag Nature Park offers encounters between humans and animals in a completely unique way. Here you can join wolves, lynxes, arctic foxes, moose, reindeer and all the farm animals. At Langedrag you will meet over 200 animals divided into over 30 different species. Every day you get the opportunity to join in the feeding of wild boar, reindeer and elk in the morning and to the predators wolf, lynx and arctic fox in the afternoon. In the yard and in the barn, you can get up close to the farm animals such as horses, cows, goats and rabbits. Langedrag is only a short drive from Geilo, about 45 minutes.

3. TOBOGGANING IN DAGALI

NORWAY'S LONGEST PREPARED SKI SLOPE!

Take the ski lift to the top and race down the 1,850m long groomed toboggan run, Norway's longest groomed toboggan run. The ski lift takes you all the way to the top before you can race down the hill consisting of  turns and straight stages built for speed. Dagali Fjellpark has specially built toboggan that can reach a speed of around 70 kilometers per hour on the right day! Dagali is only a short drive from Geilo, about 30 minutes.

4. ICE BATH & SAUNA

WONDERFUL SHOCK FOR BODY & SOUL!

90 minute sauna and ice bath at Ustaoset. What could be better than stepping into a warm, delicious sauna with a panoramic view after a refreshing bath? 5. SKARVERENNET

SPRING'S MOST BEAUTIFUL ADVENTURE!

The Skarverennet is the world's third largest cross-country skiing event and Norway's largest. It was first held in 1974, and the race in 2023 is the 50th edition. The 37 km long trail runs from Finse over the high mountain to Ustaoset, 12,000 skiers who love nature and exercise race the course every year. The tranquility of the mountain, the unique view and the atmosphere are very special, and so is the joy of reaching the finish line at Ustaoset. The race is held in the last half of April and it is not without reason that it is called - spring's most beautiful adventure.

6. DOGSLEDDING ON THE HIGH MOUNTAINS

SEE THE NATIONAL PARK FROM THE SLED!

In the spring, Geilo Husky moves all the dogs up on the high mountain, closer to Solheimstulen Turisthytte. Since it is a long drive from Geilo, a slightly longer trip is offered. ​Drive your very own dog team into the high mountains. Dog sledding takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, there will be a hot drink and a snack on the trip. In total, approximately 2 hours are calculated for the experience. On the trip, there is an experienced guide with both the Femundløpet and the Finnmarksløpet in his bag.

7. SKI TOURING FROM STORESTØLEN

THE REWARD IS THE VIEW ON TOP!

There is something special about standing on top of a mountain. After climbing all the altitude meters, the reward is often a spectacle view and fun skiing down! With its unique location by the majestic Hallingskarvet National Park, Storestølen Fjellhotell is a good starting point for randonee trips. From the hotel you have a short trip to peaks such as Einsetnuten, Urvassnuten, Blåbergi and Såteggi, with varying degrees of difficulty and length.

8. SNOWMOBILE SAFARI

A TRIP IN BEAUTIFUL WINTER LANDSCAPE!

In Dagali you can either test drive on a track or take part in a quieter safari trip and maybe you will be lucky enough to see elk up close? Dagali Experiences offers snowmobile safaris in a beautiful winter landscape.  The trail is approximately 40 km long, and the length of the trip is adapted to the group. If you want more action, you can rent faster snowmobiles on the track, the track has both bends and straights, so here you can test your speed and excitement. Dagali is only a short drive from Geilo, about 30 minutes.

9. RESTAURANT HALLINGSTUENE

OWN WINE COLLECTION & WINE LIST!

In recent years, the restaurant has received awards for their wine list from the renowned American wine magazine Winspectator. They give awards to restaurants that have exceptional wine lists. This award can be compared to the Michelin Guide in the world of food. The restaurant is furnished like three old local rooms with fireplace and rose-painted walls. Here you get local specialties and exquisite a la carte. They specialize in dishes such as grouse, reindeer and deer. But also has its own gourmet menu for those who want it. In the middle of the restaurant stands a well-stocked cognac trolley and in the wine cellar there are close to 5,000 bottles for storage.

10. CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING IN BUDALEN

VIEW OF HALLINGSKARVET NATIONAL PARK!

A cross-country trip to Vestreim through Budalen is one of the best cross-country trips on Geilo. The cross-country trail runs through open landscapes, it is protected by three rock walls and offers a fantastic view of Hallingskarvet. During the trip, you will also pass many small farms, that are still in operation. When you have skied halfway you will come to Vestreim cafe, where you can enjoy food and drink in the sun. After some rest and food, the rest of the trip awaits.

12. MOUNTAINS & FJORDS

MAYBE EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL IN THE WINTER?

With Geilo as your base, you have a unique opportunity to experience the fjord and mountains on the same day. The train takes you directly from Geilo to Myrdal station, from there you take Flåmsbanen. It has been described as one of the world's most spectacular train journeys, and you get a journey through powerful nature, past Rallarvegen, steep mountain sides, frozen waterfalls, 20 tunnels and many viewpoints all the way down to Flåm. In Flåm you get the opportunity to take a fjord cruise in the Nærøyfjord, the journey through this fjord is so special that it is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. You travel the same way back to Geilo.
