Autumn holiday in Geilo - How to plan
How to get here - Geilo is located on the mountains midway between Oslo and Bergen. From Oslo it is approx. 220 km and from Bergen approx. 244 km by car. The easiest and fastest way to get to Geilo is to take a train, the train runs directly from both Oslo and Bergen stations.
Accommodation - Stay at one of the family-friendly hotels in a central location. Hotels such as Vestlia Resort, Ustedalen Resort and Dr. Holms Hotel all have a good location and can offer, among other things, a swimming pool, restaurant and bar. If you want self-catering, we have several cabins and apartments that are perfect for a cozy autumn holiday.
Autumn activities - Treat yourself to one or more activities that give you a sense of mastery and a memory for life! Pre-book an outdoor activity that is suitable for both young and old, how about a trip in the climbing park, maybe join a mountain bike course or what about rafting in Numedalslågen?
Food service in the mountain - No autumn holiday is complete without a cycling and hiking trip. When you are in the mountains, we recommend a break at one of the serving huts in the mountains. These can be reached both by bicycle and on foot, but also by car. There is little that can be compared to a fresh waffle in the middle of the mountains after a long trip!
Indoor activities - There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes, as they say in Norway! But, if there is, there are a lot to do indoors as well. You can, among other things, play bowling, both at Vestlia Resort and Dr. Holms Hotel. At Vestlia Resort, you will also find a play area and a small water park, where the children can throw themselves into the 82-metre-long water slide. Both Vestlia Resort and Dr. Holms Hotel also offer a spa and wellness department for adults.
Restaurant - No matter where you want to stay, it is extra nice to visit a restaurant one of the evenings. We recommend booking in advance if you have a special wish for a restaurant and time.
Shopping - The center of Geilo consists of a cozy pedestrian street, with many shops and cafes. Take a break from the activities, explore the center of Geilo and all it has to offer!
