On this page, we have collected everything you need to know about horse riding. At Geilo we have two skilled activity providers, Geilo Hestesenter and Stall Brusletto - Geilo Aktivitetssenter. Both offer horse riding in both summer and autumn, here you can choose between a 1 hour horse ride to a day trip, horse riding for the little ones and a horse and cart experience.
Children from 10 years
The tours take place in beautiful terrain above the tree line up towards Budalen under the majestic Hallingskarvet. The one-hour tour is mainly on dirt roads, with some exciting detours through forest paths on the way. A trip with a great view of Geilo. If you want a longer trip, you can take part in 3 hours of mountain riding. Here you ride up about 250 meters in height before you ride inwards towards the Hallingskarvet. After an exciting river crossing of Budalsvannet, the trip heads towards Havsdalen Ski Center before turning back via the old Prestholtveien.
The tours start at Geilo Horse Center in Vestlia in varying terrain at places such as Slaattahølen, Bruslettstølen and Gamle skurdalsvegen, depending on the duration of the tour. The 1-hour horse ride is a great ride for beginners and goes on a great gravel road down along the water at Geilo Kulturkyrkje. The 2-hour tour takes you out into the forest and the light trail network in Vestlia. If there are experienced riders with you, the guide adds some speed and excitement along the way. Their longest ride is a Day Trip Experience (approx 6 hours) up the hill in varied terrain towards Kikut and Bruslettstølen. There is a short break on the tour where you can stretch your legs and where you are also rewarded with a great view of the Hallingskarvet. You will be in charge of your own horse all day and get to do everything, from getting it ready to putting it back to its field at the end of the day!
Geilo Hestesenter offers pony rides (only available in the summer during the school holidays and subject to availability) on the riding track or the land belonging to the farm for the very little ones. A safe and nice experience where the children get to know the horse and are taken on a short trip with one of the stable staff- parents must accompany the children on foot at all times.

A great way to sightsee around Geilo with your friends and family. The prairie wagon has room for 16 people, with two benches along the wagon where you sit facing each other with a long table in the middle. The canvas over the carriage provides shelter on the road, and there is usually a good atmosphere on the trip with a team of 4 or 2 horses at the front. Give the day an extra touch with a horse ride on your wedding day. If the wedding is arranged in winter, the Austrian sleighs are used. Geilo Hestesenter has special wedding pelts for the sleigh, a decorative sleigh for the day that also keeps you warm. If there is a wedding in the summer months, you can choose the Austrian sleigh or an old-fashioned carriage. The sled has room for 9 people, while the carriage seats 4 people. The horses are groomed and decorated, the harnesses freshly prepared and shiny. The driver is dressed in his finest clothes, all to create an unforgettable experience!
