These routes are suitable for many – whether you're walking, riding a kick bike, regular bike or e-bike, pushing a stroller, or using a wheelchair. The tours follow roads and trails with even surfaces and continuous paths, making them easy to navigate. The season typically runs from mid-May until the first snowfall, and weather conditions usually have little impact on the experience.

By "accessible," we mean routes that are manageable in both distance and terrain – though you should still expect some elevation gain along the way. Surfaces vary between gravel, trail, and occasional paved sections, offering a pleasant mix of nature and experiences.

Season: In general most of the snow is meltet from the end of may, with local varieties.

Surface: combination of gravel and dirt roads with asphalt.

Choose between relaxed town rides or more challenging mountain routes. Along the way, you’ll enjoy stunning views over Hallingdal and glimpses of Geilo’s well-known ski slopes.

The Geilo Loop and Fabrikk Route are available year-round.
Kikut and Eilevstølen can be accessed from mid-June.

Bike tours up the mountains

Rides filled with beautiful nature experiences, wide views, and greater range — whether you're looking for a workout or a relaxed trip with the family, a bike ride in the mountains rarely disappoints. The routes are suitable for everyone, especially if you choose an e-bike. If you're not a fan of steep climbs, you can drive part of the way up (toll road) and start your ride from the mountain plateau.

Season: Most mountain roads open for cycling by late June or early July, with the road surface maintained after the winter season.

Rallarvegen

There are several ways to explore the famous Rallarvegen. You can take a family-friendly tour from Finse to Haugastøl, a tour that doesn't require using the train, or choose one of the longer routes to cycle the entire road.

Season: The first section from Haugastøl and the final stretch from Myrdal down to Flåm are usually free of snow by mid-June. For the middle section, you'll typically need to wait until early July. Snowmelt varies each year and depends on snow levels, temperatures, and weather conditions. Follow the "Rallarvegenreport" on the Haugastøl Turistsenter website for the latest updates on road conditions.

Around Ustedalsfjorden

Length: 10 km 

Time flies when you're exploring the bike park, skill trails, and flow trails. If you're looking for a longer ride, the 10 km loop around Ustedalsfjorden is an excellent option. This scenic trail runs between the valley sides, on the downside of the town, and is easily accessible from all parts of Geilo.

The trail is wide and gravel-paved, taking you around the entire fjord. Along the way, you'll find informative signs providing interesting insights about the area. Feel free to take a break at Geilo Beach, where you can take a dip and enjoy a lunch break at the picnic tables. Alternatively, you can continue biking to Geilojordet in the town center for dining options.

Tip! If you're in a larger group, bring a volleyball and play a few rounds on the sand volleyball court at the beach.
