Theatre story Geilojordet
Every day, live storytelling theatre is arranged, where a farm boy or a farm girl takes you back to the 1850s and shares the stories of life on the Geilo farm. Join us inside the various buildings and hear about life and anecdotes from that time. Free. Geilojordet has a café with homemade food such as sour cream porridge and patches and is open from 11 am - 4 pm every day. The performances are free and are held daily between 11:00 - 16:00. Specific times will come.
"Stolpejakten" also known as pole hunting
Download the Stolpejakten app and explore Geilo’s rich history and cultural heritage! The Geilo Sentrum map offers several themed routes, including an audio tour created by tourism students, available through the Voice of Norway app. Discover historic sites, visit traditional craft workshops on the Fabrikksrunden, and walk through Fekjo Cultural Heritage Park to the scenic Tuftebrui – each stop includes background info to enrich your experience.

Fly fishing course on Hardangervidda
This course gives you good training in everything from casting techniques, the right choice of equipment, tying flies and how to choose the right fishing spot. For beginners, the fly fishing course will give you great benefit on how to learn to fly fish. For more information and booking, see here.
Gallery exhibition at Café Mocca
Stop by Café Mocca in Geilo and look at the exhibition of Tahle Minde Østby, also known as Tahle Illustration. The pictures offer humorous and lively drawings that put Norwegian culture and nature under a sharp edge. Her work is inspired by national romanticism from the early 1900s, and she uses iPad as her main tool to create detailed caricatures that capture both the typically Norwegian and the everyday. Archaeological Hike from Fagerheim Fjellstugu
Join us for an exciting guided hike through ancient hunting sites and cultural landmarks along "Store Krækkja". The tour lasts about 4 hours and follows a marked green trail. Price: 250 NOK (minimum 10 participants). Perfect for those who want to combine mountain hiking with cultural history!

Gourmet fishtrip at Ustaoset
Experience a tasteful and close to nature experience with the Winter Night - gourmet fishing trip at Ustaoset from 11 am to 3 pm. Here you get to pull nets from the canoe, gutte and prepare your own catch together with the guide Hilde - all with a view of Hallingskarvet. The tour includes dinner, dessert, coffee and hot chocolate for the children. More info about registration here.

Come and say hello to huskies, both big and small, at Geilo Husky’s kennel. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed by Sissel, who will give you a guided tour and share stories about dog sledding, training, mountain life, and much more! You’ll meet the dogs while they are off-leash, allowing them to choose whether they want to greet you or not. This creates a safe and enjoyable experience for both two- and four-legged visitors. Saturday 2nd of August
Peasant Wedding Holsdagen
Experience how a wedding took place in the 1800s. Holsdagen starts at 11:00 in Hol Gamle Kyrkje with a mass, then the bridal procession starts at 11:30 along Holsfjorden to Hol Bygdemuseum where the party continues with a wedding party from 12:45. At 18:00 there is a separate Holsdag party at Vestlia Resort. For more information and tickets see here.
Norseman
The Norseman Xtreme Triathlon is an annual triathlon competition. The event starts in Eidfjord at 05:00 with a 3.8 kilometer swimming leg in the Hardangerfjord. This is followed by 180 kilometers of cycling from Eidfjord, over Hardangervidda towards Geilo. The cyclists will pass Geilo between 07:00 and 10:00, the trip continues to Austbygde by Tinnsjøen. Here starts the last part, which is a running stage of 42.2km, towards Rjukan and up to the top of Gaustatoppen at 1883 meters above sea level.
Shared sauna and swimming at Ustaoset
Experience a 90-minute sauna ritual with essential oils, steam and music – a sensory journey for body and soul. The sauna and bath are shared, and there are only 6 places per session, so here it is important to be fast! Travel back in time, join the farm day and experience farm life as it was in the old days. Go to the mountain farm with the goats, along the way you will learn all about mountain farming and you get to make your own cheese. The trip is 1.5km. Based on an old legend, written down on a quick lunch box, it tells the story of a mysterious female voice that bewitches those who find themselves at Hallingskarvet during the full moon. The performance takes place outdoors, at the foot of Hallingskarvet National Park, near Prestholtseter, and is suitable for the whole family. There is a road (for a fee), and tickets can be purchased online, read more here.

Skarvespelet is an innovative historical play and the only one of its kind in Hallingdal. Based on an old legend, written down on a quick lunch box, it tells the story of a mysterious female voice that bewitches those who find themselves at Hallingskarvet during the full moon. The performance takes place outdoors, at the foot of Hallingskarvet National Park, near Prestholtseter, and is suitable for the whole family. There is a road (for a fee), and tickets can be purchased online, read more here.
