A typical norwegian Easter celebration for the family
Day 1
The first day, a lot goes into planning and shopping. Therefore, you start the day in the center of Geilo and do all your errands, before you take a coffee break and lunch at Perleporten Cafè & Bar. After lunch, you go to a few more shops, before heading back to the accommodation. In the afternoon, you have pre-booked an outdoor activity for the whole family. The duration depends on what you have ordered, but anything from 1-2 hours must be expected. After a long day outdoors with shopping and activities, it's good to know that the rest of the evening will be spent at the hotel or cabin, with a delicious dinner, good drinks and a round of board games!
Day 2
The weather forecast reports bright sun and no wind. This is the perfect day for a cross-country trip in the high mountains! If you have small children, we recommend to try Kikut to Hakkesetstølen, if you have slightly older children who do a lot of cross-country skiing, we recommend that you take Kikut to Ruperanden or Havsdalen through Budalen to Vestreim. You pack your bag with what is extremely important on an Easter trip, chocolate, oranges and enough drink. Remember to bring warm clothes and sunscreen! Both Hakkesetstølen, Ruperanden and Vestreim are food service cabins in the mountians which stays open all Easter, they serve freshly baked buns, light meals, drinks and snacks. A short break in the sun with a fresh waffle is something everyone deserves!
Day 3
The day starts with a long, delicious breakfast before you change into your ski clothes and get your skis. Depending on where you live, you can either walk out the door and straight to the ski resort or jump on the ski bus which takes you directly to the ski lift. You start by skiing for a few hours before you take your lunch break at Vestlia Ski Café, the smell of freshly fried hamburgers has followed you since you sat in the lift for the first time. The outdoor eating area is packed with happy children running around, the chefs are grilling hamburgers and the waiters are serving thirsty people. After a well-deserved lunch in the sun, you ski a bit longer before the whole gang is completely exhausted. A few hours on the sofa works wonders. The rest of the evening is spent in a restaurant, the little ones have been allowed to decide on dinner and the choice was pizza at Highland Pizzeria.
Day 4
The big day has finally arrived! Breakfast is simple and short, the sun is shining outside and you are more than ready to get outside. You each find your own shovel and start digging, some make seating areas, while others prepare a ski slope and jumps nearby. An Easter ski race will be organized today, and for the little ones there will be an Easter egg hunt. The seating area is filled with soft drinks, goodies and sliced fruit. You start the bon fire, and today's lunch will be grilled sausages. The whole extended family gathers, and maybe the neighbor will vjoin too. Both young and old enjoy the day out, there are games, fun, competitions and lots of laughter. The evening is rounded off inside with a traditional Easter dinner. The Easter radio is on in the background and the Easter quiz is ready on the living room table. You enjøy tha last evening to the fullest!
