Girls Trip to Geilo – Activities, Tips & Inspiration

Geilo was the destination for the girls' trip and we were ready to leave.

The planning meeting a few months ago ended with a wish list for the annual happening in the group of friends. On it was written girlfriend luxury from start to finish with ingredients such as mountain nature, trips, good accommodation, good food and drink, spa, shopping. One of the girls who had participated in Kamille weekend at Vestlia, was in no doubt, it is at Geilo that we get all this! "We'll take the train and start the long weekend with some train luxury on the Bergen Line." That's how it turned out and we set off with Vy's afternoon train on Thursday. With pizza from Tolga and a warm waffle with brown cheese, there was both a touch of luxury and a good atmosphere in the café voga on the Bergen Railway. Well checked in at the cabin we had booked through the booking at geilo.com we were ready for an evening in front of the fireplace before bed was taken just the right amount of time.

Around the Ustedalsfjord with a shopping detour

Traveling on Thursday provides two full days that can be filled with clear mountain air and a good portion of activities before the return trip on Sunday. Already at the planning meeting, we had decided on trips both on foot and bike. Around the Ustedalsfjord is a super trip of approx. 10 km, where you can easily make a detour with lunch and shopping in the center of Geilo. A pair of swans swim quietly out on the fjord. We read up on the information signs we meet along the way. There will be a break on the sandy beach before a detour offers both sports shops, the nice Samsara shop and a lunch. "On this trip, it was good to have extra space in the backpack," says one of the girls happily as she forces the zipper together and is ready for the last leg back to the cabin.

Bike and spa

The next day, bike and spa are booked in. Pre-reserved trail bikes were waiting in Geilo summer park and with one of us as an avid cyclist, the guide job was filled. It would also have been possible to hire a guide for a couple of hours in the park. Up with the elevator and down Flow Motion, the morning went both fast and playfully easy, "damn, how much fun it is". Lunch awaited at Vestlia before the spa was on the program. There is no dead time on a girls' trip to Geilo, just wonderful activity with relaxation in between.

Food and drink

After we made dinner ourselves on Friday with the best ingredients from Geilo - the delicacy Matkroken, we were ready for Saturday evening at Smakeriet. One of the things that is so nice about Geilo is that it is walking distance to almost everything, also to restaurants from many of the housing options. This time, however, we took a taxi. The physical activity level was reached for the weekend, the rest was a charm stage with a taxi to the restaurant before the best flavors both on the plate and in the glass were consumed.

The train to and from Geilo

It's great to be able to take the train to and from a girls' trip in Geilo. A little tired and very happy on the way home, it is good to sink into the seat, enjoy a coffee and summarize what a nice long weekend we have had.
