Concert with Andrea Søgnen and Lars Fivelstad Smaaberg
During the National Park Days, Geilo Culture Church invites you to a unique and beautiful concert featuring two of our finest folk musicians. The concert takes place on August 2 at 7:00 PM.
Andrea Søgnen and Lars Fivelstad Smaaberg are both from Gol and have, in recent years, established themselves as strong performers within Norwegian folk music and folk dance.
Andrea Søgnen (25) is one of Norway’s leading performers on the langeleik and a key bearer of the Hallingdal langeleik tradition. She has a distinctive playing style that explores the instrument’s tonal range, groove, and expressive possibilities. Søgnen was the first to complete a bachelor’s degree in folk music with langeleik as her main instrument at the University of South-Eastern Norway, Rauland campus (2023), and has received several awards, including the Norwegian State Arts Scholarship (2025) and multiple wins at the National Folk Music Competition (2019, 2024, and 2025).
Lars Fivelstad Smaaberg is a traditional folk singer (kvedar) and dancer with deep roots in the Hallingdal tradition. He is known for his clear, warm voice and engaging storytelling through traditional songs and narratives. He studied at the Rauland Academy and holds a degree in history from Bergen, and he is a sought-after performer and instructor for both children and adults.
