Season Opener at Geilo

14th - 16th of November - join the fun!

It is with great pleasure and pride that we can welcome the start of the season with the first biathlon competion in Geilo on 14th - 16th of November 2025. After over a decade at Sjusjøen, the Norwegian Biathlon Association has chosen Geilo as the new organizer for this prestigious opening of the Olympic season. This season start will not only be a sporting event, but a public festival for the whole of Hallingdal and the surrounding area! With international participation and live broadcasts on TV, Geilo gets a golden opportunity to showcase itself as a first-class winter destination. Let's create a party for both young and old, and show the world what Geilo has to offer!

Friday

09:00 am – 11:00 am
Official training for women. The stadium comes to life as the first athletes test the course.

11:30 am – 02:30 pm
Official training for men – final preparations before the weekend's competitions.

04:00 pm – 05:00 pm
The city centrum of Geilo fills up with people! As the Christmas market opens, the “Christmas Shop of the Year” is will picked.

10:00 am
The food tent opens – ready for a day full of sport, atmosphere, and delicious food!

10:30 am – 11:15 am
Shooting practice for women.

11:00 am – 06:00 pm
The Christmas market opens – featuring crafts, food, and festive cheer.

11:30 am
Women’s sprint – the athletes give it their all in front of the crowd!

Shooting practice for men.

Men’s sprint – speed and excitement are on the rise!

Afterski in the tent at the stadium – music, good vibes and great company.
