It doesn't matter if you have no snowshoe experience - snowshoeing is something for everyone and is a great way to get out and enjoy the winter landscape. Whether you want to hike in untouched snow and terrain or on well-trod trails.
The tours are adapted to the desired speed, ascent, distance and length so that everyone gets a fantastic experience. If you would rather rent snowshoes, this is possible at Slaatta Ski Centre, at Geilo Aktiv (Vestlia Resort) and at the tourist information center in Geilo centre.

Geilo Aktiv organizes a variety of different snowshoe tours with start and finish at Vestlia Resort. The evening snowshoe tour is suitable for everyone who enjoys walking, and it is popular among families and beginners. If you are looking for a longer trip for just yourself or the group you are traveling with you can book the mountain hike or daytrip. The guide will tailor the tour to fit your needs and wishes.

Slaatta Skisenter & Vinternatt

FAMILY TRIPS

The family snowshoe trip at Slaatta Ski Center is suitable for everyone with children over 6 years of age. The trip takes place in the forest area around Slaatta Ski Centre. The trip ends with sledding on a humpback board and a pleasant time at Slaatta Lavvoen. At the lavo, the guides let you try pinnebrød baking, and grill them over an open fire. A great family activity!

Another trip for the family is Adventure snowshoeing with dinner and bonfire organized by Vinternatt. Here you can enjoy a traditional Norwegian dinner over the fire outside in untouched nature. The trip takes place in easy terrain by the Ustedalsfjorden. There will be animal tracks in the snow, constellations and the winter evening close by. An educational, memorable and great trip for the whole family!

Practical tips and advice

FOR SNOWHOUSE TOURS

Clothing

Dress for activity outside, warm and windproof. The clothes should be flexible and comfortable to wear. If it is snowing, we can recommend ski goggles or clear sunglasses to protect your eyes.
Choosing the right footwear is important for the snowshoes to sit comfortably. The snowshoe bindings almost work with all types of shoes, but moon boots, trainers and ski boots are not recommended. A hiking/mountain shoe would be perfect. If you have gaiters, they are recommended as the trip takes place in the snow
