A taste of dog sledding - Geilo Husky
If you want a little taste of what dog sledding is, then you are most welcome to us to drive your own dog team. This is suitable for the whole family!
Within walking distance of Geilo center, we have a nice camp and dog sledding trail that goes on the Ustedalsfjord.
With "Dog sledding – a taste", you get instruction from experienced dog mushers before you get to try driving a dog team all by yourself.
You will be greeted by a camper host who will show you how to drive the sled. Then you are distributed two guests per dog team. One sits in the sled, while the other drives. Halfway through, you change places if you wish. First of all, you have someone who shows the way and helps if challenges arise. When you get back to camp, it's time to thank the dogs for the trip, take pictures, talk to the guides, and we have a warm fire to sit by, and are served hot blackcurrant toddy or coffee.

Duration: The experience takes about one hour in total, with 25 minutes of actual dog sledding
Price includes: Dog sledding and hot drinks
Number: From 2 guests to 12 guests. The number per trip varies according to our capacity throughout the season.
Wear: Windproof jacket, trousers and mittens. Warm hat and buff. Winter boots. (Unfortunately, we do not offer rental of clothes). Bring an extra thick jacket if you are unsure about the cold. If there is wind and/or snow, we recommend goggles (slalom goggles, goggles, sunglasses)
Parking: Parking lot at the Red Cross in Bakkestølvegen 56. Look for Geilo Husky signs. Be careful not to obstruct Red Cross expressions or block the helipad.
Age limit: Children are counted from 3-11 years. From 12 years old is considered an adult and can try to drive the sled if desired. Dog sledding taster is suitable for children and adults. Children 0-2 years old ride for free, and you do not need to book a place for children in this age group. Children in this age group sit with an adult in the sled. Children aged 3-11 years must also bring an adult on dog sledding, but can sit alone in the sled during the dog sledding.
