Study Centre Geilo

One of the seven goals outlined in the Geilo 2030 strategy states that Geilo should be an attractive place to live. In the action plan accompanying the strategy, education is highlighted as a key foundation for achieving this goal. As a result, Open Study Centre Geilo was established in 2020 on behalf of Viken Vocational College, and it continues to develop. The tourism industry in Geilo plays an active role in this development.

As a student in Geilo, you have the opportunity to enhance your skills through close collaboration with a business cluster of companies that are more than willing to contribute—whether through student projects, practical testing of concepts, or assignments for student-run enterprises. Most of our students have exciting part-time jobs in local businesses. Thanks to the close cooperation with the local business community, including Geilogruppen, all students receive a range of discounts at cafés, restaurants, and activities. These benefits include everything from industry gatherings at Bardøla Fjelltun to free access to training facilities and swimming at Vestlia Resort. Geilogruppen also assists students in finding suitable accommodation.
