Horseback riding half-day tour - Geilo Horse Center
Join us for a half-day horseback ride through the beautiful scenery of Geilo this summer! Rides are available daily from July 11 to July 26 and are suitable for both beginners and experienced riders.
Geilo Horse Center offers horseback riding tours during the summer holiday – a fantastic way to experience Geilo!
On the half-day tour, the ride takes you up the hillside on the south side of Geilo. You’ll ride through varied terrain, including forest and mountains, and enjoy breathtaking views of Geilo and the Hallingskarvet mountain range along the way!
Upon arrival, you'll be assigned your horse, and you will groom and saddle it yourself. The route may vary depending on the group composition and weather conditions, but typically goes through the forested slopes toward Kikut, or possibly over Bruslettstølen and Leirtjønn. The terrain is diverse with many elevation changes, both uphill and downhill. Where the terrain allows, and if all riders are comfortable, we may try tölt/trot and possibly a canter.
Geilo Horse Center primarily uses Icelandic horses – excellent mountain horses well-suited for this terrain. Please note that there is a rider weight limit of 90 kg for the Icelandic horses.
Important Information
Please arrive 10 minutes before departure.
Minimum age: 10 years.
Children under 13 years must ride with an accompanying adult.
Riding helmets are available to borrow.
Please dress appropriately for the weather.
We recommend bringing a small snack and a water bottle.
Booking closes at 9:00 PM the evening before your ride.
