Hol Turlag - Canoe rental
Hol Turlag has four canoes, each with three seats (ideally for two adults and one to two small children per canoe).
Explore Veslefjorden by Canoe!
Hol Turlag’s canoes are beautifully located in a small boathouse right by the water at Veslefjorden, just east of Geilo Beach. From here, you can paddle through calm waters and soak in the peaceful scenery. The boathouse is marked with a green hiking sign featuring a canoe symbol and “Hol Turlag,” so it’s easy to spot.
It’s about 2.3 km from the Geilo Tourist Information in the town center to the boathouse – a pleasant 30-minute walk along a scenic path. If you prefer to drive, you can also park by Geilo Beach on Hjalmevegen.
The canoes are rented through the tourist information office in central Geilo. Advance reservations aren’t possible – it’s first come, first served. You’ll pay at the counter after agreeing to the rental terms, and receive the boathouse key right away.
After your paddle trip, please return the canoe, paddles, and life jackets neatly to the boathouse. The key should be brought back to the tourist information or Visit Geilo. Just make sure to return it during opening hours – unless you’ve made other arrangements with the staff.
Enjoy your paddle – and take in the calm of the fjord!

Wildlife: Many birds, including whooper swans and horned grebes, have nested and raised their young along the shores of Veslefjorden in recent summers. DNT Members: Please bring and show your membership card when you rent the canoe at the tourist office.
Canoeing and other close activities on the water scare the adult whooper swans away from their young.
We therefore ask that you move the canoe to the beach area and paddle on Ustedalsfjorden to give the birds peace and quiet. This area is also larger and better suited for paddling.
