Tour description
The tour starts from Joker at Ustaoset on June 11 at 09:00. From here, we walk together with Hilde to Tvergastein – a hike of approximately 2 hours, including breaks and a packed lunch along the way. Hilde is a certified outdoor guide, singer, and resident of Ustaoset, and she will share knowledge about nature, plants, wildlife, and life in the high mountains.
Upon arrival at Tvergastein, you will meet Lotte Næss, daughter of Arne Næss, and Tine Blom, who together open their childhood home and share memories and reflections from the place. Tine will also give a lecture of approximately 1 hour on ecology, society, and lifestyle, based on Arne Næss’ philosophy, followed by a tour of the cabin and time for questions and conversation.
Tvergastein calls for calm and presence – here, the pace is set by the place itself. After the visit, we walk back together with Hilde. If weather permits, there may be an opportunity for a swim or to rest in the heather. The tour ends in the hyttebyen between 17:00 and 18:00.
Packing list:
Daypack with packed lunch and snacks, water (hot drinks recommended), sitting/lying mat, extra warm clothing, hat and gloves, swimwear. Sturdy waterproof hiking boots are recommended, along with gaiters and windproof clothing. The trail can be wet at times, and the weather near Hallingskarvet can change quickly. The hike involves approximately 400 meters of elevation gain.
