Exhibition Opening : The Cold, Wonderful Time by Kristian Finborud
Welcome to the opening of a new art exhibition on Thursday, 8 October at 4:00 PM at Geilo Cultural Church. The exhibition will be on display until 26 November.
Kristian Finborud (b. 1964) is one of Norway’s most popular and beloved graphic artists. With a warm and gentle perspective on the people around him, he highlights both the big moments and the small situations we rarely talk about.
His motifs often feature people simply doing their best. They go skiing, struggle their way up the final hill, enjoy life at the cabin, or sit on a rocky outcrop with a chilled glass of white wine and a good friend. Some are more athletic in their own minds than they are in reality. Others have simply been lucky enough to find someone to share the journey with.
It is often easy to recognise both ourselves and others in his images. Perhaps that is why Kristian’s art has found its way into so many Norwegian homes and cabins.
All the artworks are created using etching and hand-printed in Finborud’s studio in Voss.
This is a time-consuming technique in which the printing plates must be inked again for each individual print. The edition is limited to 55 copies per motif. No computer equipment has been used at any stage in the production of these prints.
