Exhibition at Geilo kulturkyrkje
The current exhibition in the church is “Skogskuldre, månerøtter” by Kjersti Lande, on view until 3 October
Kjersti Lande explores the landscapes between what is overgrowing and what is slowly disappearing. In her work, she examines what becomes overgrown, what is on the verge of disappearing, and the traces left behind by both natural processes and human activity.
Through drawing and simple printmaking techniques, she unravels complex forms and organic compositions. The process can be compared to moving through nature and noticing small details – shapes, structures and traces – that together form larger landscapes.
After more than 20 years of living in the city, Kjersti Lande moved back to the municipality where she grew up in 2023. Her proximity to the Kongsberg Silver Mines, with their remnants of mining activity and distinct marks on the landscape, has left an impression on her work.
With this exhibition, Lande seeks to draw attention to the natural environments that exist close to us, and to how human activity affects them.
