Concert with Bjørn Eidsvåg at Geilo kulturkyrkje

There will be a pre-Christmas concert with Eidsvåg at Geilo Kulturkyrkje after all! The concert will take place on Monday, December 21, at 5:00 PM, with an additional performance at 7:00 PM.

Eidsvåg writes:

Christmas really is the season of traditions.

It is the time of year when we do the same things we have always done, just as those before us have always done. This is not the time to be innovative or think outside the box. This is the time to be nostalgic, sentimental and faithful to tradition.

This year, we thought we would be a little daring and crazy: we actually planned to skip our pre-Christmas concert at Geilo Kulturkyrkje. For many years, we have ended our annual autumn tour — which starts around mid-October — with a concert just before Christmas Eve in Geilo. This is where my family and I celebrate Christmas, as we have done since 1997. So, in a way, I get to end the tour “at home”, just a short distance from the Christmas lamb ribs, beer and aquavit.

But we don't dare after all.
We simply can't bring ourselves to give up this concert.
We have too many wonderful memories and too many strong emotions attached to it.

I don't usually perform Christmas concerts, but at Kulturkyrkja, we always end the evening by singing Deilig er jorden (“Fairest Lord Jesus”) together with the audience, and every time, we shed a few tears.

So, on December 21, we will be holding our annual pre-Christmas concert at Geilo Kulturkyrkje after all.

Having made that decision, I feel that Christmas will come this year, too.
