Kjelkehus

In the "Kjelkehus" they kept toboggans and equipment to carry injured people down from the mountain.

It was set up in the 1950s. Geilo Turisttrafikklag built "kjelkehus" in several places in the village. The Auxiliary Corps supplemented with sanitary equipment. Injured people were transported to the village on these sledges and the Relief Corps had to carry equipment back to the sledge houses. The sledges and equipment were also used on aftershocks. No need to bring all the equipment from the village. Saved time on it. The toboggan houses are now pure landmarks. Scooters have taken over the job. The Red Cross are renovating the toboggan house in Havsdalen and in Folarskaret in 2020.
