Hol Bygdemuseum is an outdoor museum located in Hagafoss in Hol Municipality. The museum is built like an old farm from Hol, with 17 houses from the 18th and 19th centuries. Two of these houses are beautifully decorated in the traditional rose-painting style by two painters well-known in Hallingdal, Kittil Rygg and Kristen Aanstad. Inside the main museum building you can also find an indoor exhibition with rose painted objects and folk costumes that reflect traditional cultural practices in this part of Hallingdal.

The museum is also responsible for maintaining several other buildings around Hol Municipality. These include an old mountain farm, Dokken, which is located 22 km from Hagafoss; the old schoolhouse in Nord-Hovet (13,8 km); and a small house after the family Øvrevollseie (11,4 Km). We also run guided tours in Hol Old Church during the summer season.

Hol Bygdemuseum is part of Hallingdal Museum. You are welcome to contact us with any questions or if you would like a group tour of the museum.
