Zipline in Geilo

A zipline is a wire that is attached between two points. Although the zipline has been used for hundreds of years to transport both goods and people, today it has become an adrenaline-filled experience for the whole family, and you also get a fantastic view. The 1,100 meter long zipline at Geilo is guaranteed fun for the whole family. Feel how the pulse rises when you set off from the top, the zipline stops at the bottom of the alpine hill. Zipline - An adventure in the sky!

Feel the sensation of flying down the mountainside at Geilo. The zipline is as much as 1,100 meters long, and guarantees fun for the whole family!

To get to the starting point of the zipline, take the lift up to the top of Vestlia (the lift pass is included in the price). The zipline is attached to a harness, which is connected to a strong and secure wire. The zipline is a total of 1,100 meters long, and has a difference in elevation of 260 meters. In the beginning, you hang in a freefall for around 80 meters before you are lead over the edge and then down from the top of Vestlia, where you feel your pulse increasing! The speed can come up to 60 km/h. At the lowest, you will be flying only 2 meters above the ground; and at the highest, you are as high as 35 meters. During the flight, you are also rewarded with a fantastic view toward the Hallingskarvet National Park and over Geilo.

The activity is suitable for the whole family, and it is possible to ride both single and tandem trips. Tandem gives two people the opportunity to ride together (max 120kg) and is particularly popular with families with children. This activity is suitable for children aged 5 and over and weighing a minimum of 25 kg. Child ticket is valid from 5-15 years.

Geilo Zipline is operational in the summer. It is open from June to the end of October

25 June - 21 August: every day 10am-5pm.
27 August - 2 October: Sat and Sun 10am-5pm.
3 October - 16 October: every day 10am-5pm.

Good to know

Clothing - There are no requirements for how you should dress, but it is important that you have shoes that fit well and that cannot fall off on the trip. We recommend that you dress well as it can feel chilly on the descent. The helmet and harness are adjusted by the zipline staff so that it fits properly and securely.

Go pro - You can bring your own camera and extension or similar. It is also possible to hold the camera in the hand or use a stick. The camera/stick must have a safety strap. However, Geilo zipline takes no responsibility if you lose or damage your camera.

Safety regulations for Geilo zipline

  • Minimum weight 25 kg
  • Maximum weight 130 kg
  • Children under the age of 5 can ride tandem with one of our instructors, or with a guardian
  • Children under the age of 18 must have approval from their guardian
  • All participants must undergo safety training
  • Scarves are not allowed, long hair must be tied up
  • Do not bring valuables, things may fall out of your pockets
  • Spectators must stand at least 6 meters away from the Zipline area
  • Smoking is not permitted

You cannot participate on the zipline if you are/have:

  • Influenced by alcohol/drugs
  • Pregnant
  • Problems with the heart or lungs
  • Back or neck injury
  • Other serious injuries
