Lutefisk
Lutefisk is a traditional Scandinavian dish made from dried white fish (usually cod) that has been soaked in a water and lye solution. The lye helps rehydrate the fish, making it soft and jelly-like. After soaking in lye, the fish is rinsed in fresh water to remove any remaining chemicals, and then it’s cooked, often by steaming or baking.

It has a very unique texture and mild flavor, and people usually eat it with sides like potatoes, bacon, or peas. While some people love it, others find it an acquired taste! It’s especially popular in Norway and Sweden around Christmas.
