Trail Biking - Skill Trails in Geilo

Kids in bike park

Skill trails are incredibly fun gravel trails with jumps, turns and tough elements. You will find several of these in the bike park, and when you come out on the other side, there are even more. The skill trails are well-marked, and are all connected and accessible from the Ustedalsfjord lake on the Vestlia side.

The Skill Trails at Vestlia

Røyskatten

Length: 0,8 km.

Difficulty: Greenn.

Lift: No.

Open: Yes.

Røyskatten starts right at the pump track, and takes you on a fun round in the woods before ending back at the pump track. Small, fun elements that can be cycled over, or around if you prefer. It’s an exciting round for the whole family who loves biking.

Skurfen

Length: 0.7km.

Difficulty: Blue.

Lift: No.

Open: Yes.

This is the first family-friendly bike path that was built in Hallingdal. Skurfen is built according to all the rules of the art, to give the maximum flow and smiles per meter! As a bonus, you cycle in fantastic surroundings.

The trail is fun to cycle for all levels, with built-up turns, lots of moguls, and great views. It consists of a compact and even gravel surface, which can withstand all kinds of weather. There are several stops with benches along the path.

Fossekallen

Length: 0.7km.

Difficulty: Green.

Lift: No.

Open: Yes.

This is an expansion of the popular "Skurfen". Here you get very close to the Ustedalsfjord, and can enjoy yourself on a simple path, where your whole family can join you.

Fossekallen is perhaps the valley's most idyllic path, located close to the beautiful Ustedalsfjord. The path is machine-made with a compact and even surface. Here you are never far from Vestlia bike park and the hotel, and it is safe to send the children out on the trail alone.

We recommend cycling Fossekallen as part of a round trip, which starts with Røyskatten, continues on Fossekallen via the access path to the gravel trail, Ustedalsfjorden Lake Round. The round ends with Skurfen. You can also finish by cycling the Ustedalen Round and then back to the Vestlia Bike Park for even more biking fun.

Three New Bike Paths in Geilo

In the autumn of 2021, Geilo Track and Trail Group put the shovel in the ground and developed three completely new skill trails of the same type as the popular Skurfen. These are now ready for the 2022 season. More information about this news soon.

Family biking

Some 100 meters west of the Ustedalsfjorden lake you will find a lot of action in a small place!

Bever’n

Length: 0.5km.

Difficulty: Blue.

Lift: No.

Open: Yes.

At Bever’n, you will find a lot of excitement in a small space. Gradings, stone elements, and for the extra tough, you can have air under your wheels. This is a trail you will cycle again and again.

Bever'n is located right next to Geilohallen, and is made as a training arena for Geilo IL; but the trail is open to everyone, and offers a lot of biking fun! The trail is perfect for mastering both turning technique and balance on the bike.

Tip! Learn about the different levels of difficulty before setting out down the various bike paths. For your own safety, it is important that you know what awaits you and that you know the difference between a green and a black trail.
